Speak with Einar in Larvik and he will tell you a story about Morgvark. There is one more quest marker we've been neglecting outside of the garden, a man named Einar in the town of Larvik to the southeast. In here you will find some crafting recipes as well as Morgvark's journal that you'll want to wait to read. Once you've obtained this key you'll want to use it to open the door on the building in the center of the garden. For more information how the levers and the sluice gates work I highly recommend you read the Nameless Quest Walkthrough. To reach this key you will need to open the right sluice gate and swim under the waterfall to find a secret cave. The next thing you will have to do is find the Padlock Key that Morgvark told you about when you faught him in his cave (pictured above).

He drops a Werewolf Mutagen and since Morgvark always respawns until you complete this quest - you can effectively keep doing this and farm the Mutagen from him. Tip: Choosing "finish him off" during the dialogue options while talking to Morgvark will allow you to loot his corpse.
It's recommended that you don't go this route as there is an additional reward for you if you complete it properly. Any food you feed to him turns to ash, feeding Morgvark's own flesh to him will kill him and fail/complete the quest. Just north of where you find the levers for the Nameless quest there will be a cave where Morgvark resides (pictured above) speaking to him in here is required for this quest as you'll learn much more about what plagues him.Įach time you encounter Morgvark and beat him up you'll have some dialogue where you can either feed him, finish him off, leave him alone or ask questions. The first few objectives of this quest, involving finding the garden and speaking to Josta and Melitele are all completed while doing Nameless.įor this quest the first objective that branches off from Nameless involves finding Morkvarg. This quest is automatically given to you while doing the Nameless Story Quest and many of the first objectives for this quest will be completed during the course of the Nameless quest as well. Other Requirements: Complete this quest before completing Nameless Not a bad haul for slaying only a single monster.Quest Giver: Automatically accepted during Nameless Lastly, return to the quest giver Josta at Freya's Temple for the final rewards: 50 XP and 85 crowns. This will also net the player another 50 XP. Following this, head to Novigrad on Morkvarg's loot tip and collect the silver sword Deithwen as well as a recipe for the Werewolf Decoction from the specified pawn shop. Learning of this bonus loot will grant another 80 XP.Īfter gaining knowledge of this extra reward, players should then attack and kill Morkvarg in his significantly weaker human form to get 85 more XP, which also completes the criteria for the end-quest rewards. Geralt can do both, so be sure to select the one that leads to learning about the extra treasure first. There will be options to learn of some treasure from him or to fight him. Following this, the man will proclaim all of the things he now intends to do since he is no longer cursed. Upon doing so, the player will receive 80 XP. Pick the dialogue option that lets Geralt give Morkvarg the Cursed Fang Pendant and this will change the raider back into his human form. When Morkvarg's health drops enough, he'll yield and the player can then speak to him. On top of this, Igni is very effective at scorching this beast, so combining it with oil-coated sword attacks and the poison damage of Devil's Puffball is the ideal strategy. Moon Dust bombs can temporarily block the beast's healing properties for some better damage per second, with the Superior version permanently stopping the HP regeneration.

RELATED: The Witcher 3: How To Beat WerewolvesĬursed Oil is also very helpful here, as it grants bonus damage on every silver sword slash that can really help against a healing foe.

The Superior upgrade also does the exact same damage with barely any more duration at 33 seconds, though it does have an additional charge at 4 total uses as opposed to the Enhanced versions 3 total uses. The next level up, the Enhanced version, deals the same damage for 30 seconds. The base version of this bomb deals 100 points of poison damage per second over a period of 10 seconds.

The biggest pain about fighting werewolves is their rapid health regeneration, therefore a Devil's Puffball here can greatly help counteract this with the damage over time effect of poison. As he is a werewolf, tactics useful against this kind of cursed enemy are very effective. Head back to Morkvarg's lair in Freya's Garden and initiate combat with this beast.
